All is good....

It's 9:37pm CST. The kids are in bed, Bekki and Shaun are off to Wally World. The bazillion and one people who have stopped by to visit them since they left are gone - and I'm not answering the door anymore. (Seriously, who stops by a friends home - a friend with LITTLE kids mind you - without calling or anything, to VISIT.... after 9pm?? HELLOOOO people... anyway... off the soapbox.) Phone calls? They never stop... seriously... NEVER stop. Actually the phone is ringing right now - not answering their phone. It's THEIR phone... :)

Who knew that I'd have so much time to update my blog? I don't have this much time when I'm at my home! :)

Mexico was fun. We parked in the US and walked across a bridge to enter into Mexico. You're asked to NOT give money to the beggars. The president of Mexico has created and funded all kinds of programs for the less fortunate. However, I'm told that it's more financially beneficial for people to take their children out of school and have them begging on the street. It's sad - they're EVERYWHERE!

I snagged up a few fun purchases. A dress, a shirt, sunglasses, vanilla, tomato boullion (still think it's strange - but am TOTALLY into trying it at home!!!), a small garlic braid, and a few other Mexican treats for Steve and his brother. We had lunch at a fancy schmancy restaurant that was definitely there to cater to Americans. It was tasty! They had a warm salsa (call me American or whatever - but I prefer cold salsa) and THICK corn chips. Everything was mighty tasty - and of course I didn't clean my plate. I did enjoy every minute of it though!

Fun tidbits from Michael today....

When he gives you a hug, the does it in the style of european greeting kisses. You get one on each side of your face! How cute is that! He's a very affectionate little boy - and very emotional to boot. But's he's adorable and is learning to talk like you wouldn't believe (well maybe YOU would believe it, but it amazes me!). He's the chow hound of the family. He'd be happy eating and drinking ALL day long - if you would let him! :) Due to his large quantity drinking habit, he's also very well versed in having his diaper leak! MAJOR leakage on our way to Mexico today! :) I'm sure Bekki is just DYING to have him want to be potty trained!

He is also completely enamoured with the jumbo Lego's. He and Arissa created a stack and called it a Temple. Then, a bit later - he destroyed it. He started bawling because he destroyed the Temple. Poor kid.... he's in for a world of learning. Especially if he's already destroying sacred objects! :)

Okay, Bekki and Shaun are now home. Remember that phone call? Yeah, it was them. Calling me. Calling me to find out what I wanted from DQ. Nice, eh? At least they brought me a yummy anyway! :) Gotta love that!

Don't forget to post your comments to the earlier post about vanilla! Rissa will be choosing a winner tommorrow afternoon! :)

Poor Arissa....

Today isn't a good day for Arissa. She is at the doctors office having allergy testing done. The kind of allergy testing where they poke you dozens of times with different items (grass, pollen, etc) to see what you're allergic to. I guess she's been having LOTS of ear infections (I had them as a kid too, but wasn't tested like this...) and the doctors want to find out what's causing the inflamation which causes the fluid build up which causes the ear infection... poor baby. She has been crying about it for two days (Daddy told her she was going to be poked lots of times.... mean daddy). Side note: Rissa cries like her mother. Her face gets all red and splotchy - and then the waterworks pour.

I'm ready to give Rissa lots of love when she gets home. We've got the fun stuff to paint our toes, and to add a bit of bling too!

We're going to Mexico today. How strange is it that they can just pop over to Mexico for the heck of it. It's like 20 minutes away. My goal? To buy some vanilla! You can buy a HUGE bottle of pure vanilla extract (not the imitation stuff we normally have in the US) for like a buck! Yes, $1!! It's seriously like liquid gold - LOOOOVE it! I want to get that and some tomato buillion. Yum! Lots of baking and cooking will be happening at my house!

In honor of vanilla shopping... I'll RAK a bottle of this precious liquid to one of today's comment posters. I'll print out everyone's post and have Rissa pull one of them out of a bowl. So, leave a comment with your favorite way to use vanilla!! :)

And the word is.... SNAP!

Not being around a lot of small children (hanging out with the ladies and kids from church at McD's during Story Time doesn't count), I haven't seen Chicken Little. I haven't seen most of the recent cartoons - not that I don't enjoy them, it's that I just haven't had the time or the initiative too. Anyway, Arissa and Michael have been saying ... "Oh Snap" lately - and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from. And then I saw Chicken Little (SO cute, loved it), and now I totally get it. Snap! :)

I'm having a good time with the kids. Yes, they're loud - but not unusually so. They're GREAT kids, and are SO cute (and of course, I'm not a bit biased... LOL). Arissa requested that I sleep with her, and she got up with me this morning at 7am (she normally sleeps in until 11am or so) and we spent some time putting puzzles together. Then Michael woke up and we spent some time playing with cars and trains. Ainsley is PURE delight. She's so mild mannered! She laughs and babbles - and only cries when she's hungry. And man oh man.. can the girl chow down! She's 8 months old, and downs some serious cereal, yogurt, and bottles. She eats the same food we have at dinner too, but she supplements it with other food also. She's so tiny, it's hard to imagine that she eats so much - she should be huge - but she's TINY!

It was a good day! We took the kids to Burger King and they spent hours playing in the play space/playground. It was nice for Bekki and I to just sit, chat, and hang out. Afterwards, we went to Wal-Mart (yes, Steve, another Wal-Mart) and picked up stuff to make cookies with Easter M&M's. THen we came home for naps. We went to dinner at a mexican place, and then came home for Family Home Evening and to make the cookies. Lots of fun - and lots of good loud times with the kids.

A really cute conversation I had with Arissa today:

Heather?
Yes, Rissa...
I really like you.
Thanks Riss! I really like you too!
You know what?
I love you!
Awww... I love you too, Rissa Roo!
Why do you call me Rissa Roo?
Because you're my Rissa Roo.
No, I'm Scooby Doo Arissa.
Okay, you can be my Scooby Rissa Roo.
But, I still love you, Heather.
:)

We'll definitely have kids, but not tommorrow. I don't know if I could handle having 3 out of no where. Like my mother said, "Heather, they don't all show up at once with varying ages." She's right... it would be hard for me to handle a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and an 8 month old... out of no where!

Have a great day!
~heather

Quick Updates...

Well, it appears that I've located a job - THE job I want. THE company I want. I'd been selected for a few other positions, but they didn't seem right - and I just wasn't feeling the vibe. Do you know what I mean? Yesterday, I recieved a phone call from the superior of the person who interviewed me. He wanted to chat, make sure I wanted the job (heck yes) and of my salary requirements. Then, he wanted to know how soon I could start. SO, right now we're waiting on HR to get me the official package but it looks like I'll be working VERY soon.

And since I would be heading back to work, I decided to make a quick trip to the southern most point of Texas to visit my sister, Bekki, and her family. Man, I had no idea. Kids are REALLY noisy when they get excited. Kids are noisy period. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE kids, always have. I've always loved enjoying my friends children, and I did LOTS of babysitting when I was younger. Maybe Bek's house echo's - but oh my --- Arissa and Micheal are LOUD... poor Ainsley, she just sits back and takes it all in.

I'm loving the chance to spend time with them though. I'm hoping for some YUMMY mexican food!

Rusty Pickle.... Game On!!

So, I did it! Rather, I'm working on getting it done. I started listing a tiny portion of my Rusty Pickle stash on the Bay today (love calling it the Bay... thanks Maryn and Jacci!). I left their design team, and since I won't be using any of their product lines, it seems pointless to keep it around. Be sure to check into them if you're into using Rusty Pickle products! I know a few of you have asked for a link to my auctions. It's in the sidebar links, but here it is again. (Click on the word here to be routed to them!)

No Pain, No Gain.... Right??

This morning, Steve, Jeff (friend) and I head over to the awesome new rec center in Roanoke. Mighty spiffy center for such a small Texas town. Anyway, as the the boys went off to destroy each other at Raquetball (without eye protection mind you), I gandered over to the work out center and set myself up on the eliptical machine to start off my workout. I don't know what I managed to do after that, but my leg hurts like.... the DICKENS! I thought I'd be able to walk it off on the treadmill machine, but no... no luck for me. So, I ditched the boys, came home and am pouting on my own. Darn shame that I need to pick them up in half an hour! :)

On the garage sale front, I sent the following email to my local scrappin' friends and groups yesterday:

Hi Friends!

Just a quick note to share the the Lewisville Scrapbook Warehouse is having another garage sale this weekend from 10am - 2pm. It's a great way to pick up scrapbooking supplies from other scrapbookers at a fraction of the original cost! The Lewisville SBW is located at the bypass 121 and Highway 35E (not business 121!). You can find directions and more information at
www.scrap-bookwarehouse.com.

I'll be there with a huge table! I've got baskets of super great deals with prices starting at 2/$1!! I'm clearing out my studio, and clearing out the awesome things I love - but just haven't been using! I'll have rubber stamps, ink pads, patterned paper, embellishments, ATC supplies, rubbon, cardstock, and all kinds of organizing systems and helpers!

If you stop by, be sure to say Hi! If you print this message and bring it with you, I'll give you a free gift valued at approximately $3, with ANY purchase from my booth. This offer is also valid for friends you might forward this message to. However, it is only valid while supplies last - so come early!

Have a great day!
~heather

Hopefully I'll have GREAT luck at the garage sale. My goal is to make enough to get the Wish Blade (since it's all store credit anyway) and have some money to get the new Autumn Leaves stuff when it finally arrives at the store (MUST have the new Foofala and Rhonna Farrer Stamps!). A bunch more cardstock to add to my stash would be most excellent too (plus it'll be a bonus to use with my new Wish Blade!!)

Have a delightful day, folks!

Five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes

In case you don't recognize today's blog title, it's from the musical (now turned motion picture) Rent. I've been wanting to watch it for some time, and since I knew I needed to hole myself in my studio for a plethora of hours, I decided to rent it (and a few other fun chick flicks). I've posted in the past about how much I've wanted to see the movie, but avoided the theater. Reasoning? I LOVE to sing. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT. I knew that I'd start singing in the theater and I didn't want to ruin the flick for anyone else. So, I've been waiting for it to be released onto DVD. Which happened weeks ago, but time got away from me. Anyway.... I digress.

After watching the movie (three times I might add - and after watching every bonus feature at LEAST twice) I started thinking about the changes/experiences I've had over the last year. You can read the lyrics that really spawned the thought here.

So, during the course of the last five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes I've (in no particular order including order of occurance):
  • I was promoted.
  • I fell in love.
  • I continued changing my lifestyle to a healthier better one.
  • I moved to Roanoke, Texas.
  • I got engaged.
  • I planned my entire wedding (although small in compared to society's standards).
  • Instead of traveling the world, I traveled in the US to New Mexico, Utah, and California.
  • I got married.
  • I started designing (both freelance and contract) for 5 new companies/manufacturers.
  • I was laid off from afore mentioned promotion.
  • I lost a whole lot of weight.
  • I qualified to attend CHA as a designer - and went.
  • I was able to add a new niece and nephew to my throng of awesome family members.
  • Steve added a whole new side of awesome family members to my life.
  • My biological mother and her mother came to visit (for the wedding!).
  • I made new friends, and maintained a few old friendships.
  • We managed to get one room painted in the house!

There really is a whole lot more that happened over the last year. These are the things that immediately stick into my head though.

Lots of good things going on for me right now. I've had a slew of interviews, and have two more scheduled for today, with the company I want to work with.

I'm finishing up preparations for the Lewisville Scrapbook Warehouse garage sale this weekend. I've reserved two sections (so it's supposed to be 4 tables), and will be clearing out a LOT of stuff from my scrapbook studio. In addition to a 2/$1 basket that is overflowing, I have baskets full of items priced at $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, and another priced for above $5 (mostly large items like albums). I have baskets with sorted rubber stamps, patterned papers, pre-packaged page kits and card making kits. I also have oodles of organizational items like Making Memories Sortables, crop gear, paper organizers, and a large ribbon organizer. I really hope the sale goes well, I'd rather not bring most of this stuff home with me! The point is to get it OUT of my studio!

I'm also getting ready to list a LOT of Rusty Pickle stuff onto eBay (tshirts, albums, embellishments, stickers, papers, page kits, class kits) - basically anything RP I have - is getting sold. I'm also going to be ebaying my collection of Club Scrap papers and stamps. That is, if I don't decide to sell the club scrap stuff at the garage sale!

Although I may be currently unemployed, I am UBER busy with getting things cleared out here at home!

Beware of the Ides of March... and other ramblings...

Today is the day... the Ides of March. I'm not sure if it's ironic or coincidal that today is also my last day with First Horizon Home Loan Corporation. I'm a bit meloncholy about the whole thing. I understand the business decision behind the plan. I've felt it coming for quite some time, and had often commented to friends that something had to change. Alas, something changed and my department is being omitted. Well, the term everyone else is using would be "decentralizing". Our business is being moved to another division who is able to handle our business with theirs - without much extra overhead.

I have interviews lined up. I'm really excited at the possibilities. I know the Lord will provide, if I work at finding a job. A job isn't going to just land in my lap - at least not THE job. THE job that will be THE best job for me. I'll keep looking until I find it.

Lots of fun things on the horizon though. EBay seems to be fruitful, at least so far. My customers have been paying quickly, and fortunately shipping has been equally as fast!

My studio is getting a much needed spring cleaning. What's spurring this tidy fest? I'm not sure! I'm eager to get things organized and tidied up. I have SO much and I can't possibly use it all. FOrtunately, on March 25th I'll have two tables at the Scrapbook Warehouse garage sale. It's going to be a great opportunity for me to clean out my extra's and for someone else to get a fabulous deal. I won't be getting cash for the exchange, but I will be receiving store credit - which means I am getting closer to purchasing the WishBlade! Wahoo! I'm excited to see if the products I treasure will be loved by other scrapbookers. It's a shame that I can't use it all. Honestly, I have enough for a small army. I can't fit a small army in my house - or in my studio. So, it has to go.

After much deliberation, I'm also going to be painting the bathrooms! I'm SO excited about it! I know it's a small change, but a small change is better than nothing! Both bathrooms are going to be a light tanny brown with white/cream accents. We're still trying to decide what color to paint the main parts of the house (living room/kitchen/hallways). They all flow into eachother, so the same color needs to be used in all three. We'll wait to paint the main parts until I'm gainfully employed, but in the meantime, the bathrooms will be beautiful!

I'm looking forward to spring coming! Flip flop season is RIGHT around the corner! WAHOO! The weather here has been CRAZY. 20 degrees one day and 90 the next. It's no wonder that people are getting sick. Fortunatley, I've been spared - so far! :) I can't wait to get the front flower garden all gussied up. Steve isn't looking forward to it as much as I am, but oh well. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do, right? :) Beware.... The backyard is next!

Other than that, not a whole lot going on. I did a few ATC's and you can see them in my ATC gallery on the right. I have a few more to get done, and then I'll be clear of deadlines. I have a stack to catch up on from my PeaJect friends - they're SO creative! I love seeing their work.

I'm kind of toying with the idea of entering the Memory Makers Masters contest. It's a contest similar to Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame. It's just through another magazine. I know that the MM offices are being relocated to Cincinnati, so it's possible that the contest won't even be happening. But, it's something to think about!

What I Love About You: Family

I love that you enjoy my family! It makes me happy to know that you enjoy spending time with them. Maybe it's not as much as I enjoy it - but it's enjoyable none-the-less!

Wants/Needs

I read this today on Wendy Reed's blog, and thought it was interesting. So, for all of you to enjoy, here is my top 10 list of things I want, but don't need (in no specific order of importance).

1. A billion dollars!... I woudn't have to find a new job and we would be completely debt free - with oodles in the bank. Reality dictates that it won't happen, but it's nice to daydream about it! Plus, think of all the fun new supplies I could buy! Do I need more? NO... do I want more? YES! :)

2. A cleaning lady! I'd really love to have one, and used to have one when I lived with Christa. It was awesome, and I LOVED it that she would change sheets and make my bed for me. But, I don't need one. I can do it on my own, but it would be nice not to have to! :)

3. A truck load of candy! Yes, candy! I'm a sweets-a-holic, especially lately. No, I'm not pregnant. Don't get your hopes up! :) I am trying to cut back on my sugar intake. I was doing SOOOO well at it for so long!

4. A new digital camera! Yes, I've been drooling over them for a while. No, I don't need one...yet. :)

5. A new house! I don't think I really want one, but it's nice to daydream about what features you'd like to have in a new house, you know? We'll be in our house for at least the next 5 years, maybe more. It's great I do love it - but a girl has to dream, right?

6. A personal masseuse! Oooooh how i would love to have someone rub out the knots in my shoulders at a whim! Someone to rub my head and give me a head massage to calm and put me to sleep. oooh dreamy!

7. A skin lift. I know... TMI. But, after all of this weightloss (and after we have children) I'd really love to have all of that skin removed. It's nasty! GIve me a year and we'll revisit everything... maybe!

8. The Judy Jetson Wardrobe changer. How cool would it be to just get out of bed, and step into her machine... and walk out looking like a million bucks? Sign me up!

9. The perfect studio... I'm on my way to it. Do I need it? NO. Do I want it? YES!! But, it would have to be organized and easy to access everything. I'm getting there.... slowly! :)

10. New furniture for our house. Do we need any? NO!!! But, looking through catalogs and mailers makes me want more. A new bedroom suite or living room furniture would be nice though. No, I'm not looking at baby furniture! :)

What about you? What are 10 things you want, but don't need?

Changes, Reality, and other brain musings...

WOW... just when you think life is starting to calm down and smooth out... something always seems to happen that adds a few wrinkles.

Last Thursday, in our team huddle at work, we learned that the possibility of our department being absorbed into another department was paramount. In fact, it was definitely going to happen, but they didn't know when, or if any of us would also be absorbed. They had hoped to have some information to us about the process/plan within a week so so, and so we all went back to work - pondering on changes when we had time. Then, Friday morning we all recieved a meeting request. In the meeting we were told that our department would be "decentralized to our Wholesale branches" and that our last day would be March 15th. WOW...

There are many things I am grateful. Fortunately, we were offered a severance package based on our tenure. Awesome! SO grateful for that! We were also given notice - even more grateful for that. In today's market, many companies would have just laid everyone off. But, they chose not to. They say it's easier to find a job when you have one - well I have one for about 2 more weeks - bring on the ease! :)

Suprisingly, I'm not freaking out. We need the income that I bring home for our budget. Steve is most certainly freaking out internally - he's the money man. I know that God is mindful of my needs, and of the needs of my family. He isn't going to let us suffer unbearably, and He'll take care of us - if I do my part. So, I'm working to do my part.

There are a few pieces to my silver lining. If I can't find a job right away, I'll have the time to get the items sold on eBay that I want sold. I haven't had the time to devote the amount of concentration necessary to be productive. I'll also have the time to get a few other things around the house accomplished that I've intended to do, but haven't done. I'll have time to make a few quick visits to see family. What fun that could be! I'll also have time to relax and do a bit of creating... would really love to do that without worrying about other items or tasks waiting on me.

So, although changes happen, good things can come from them!
